Cleveland, Ohio - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is in sixth-place after the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III LEARFIELD Directors' Cup final winter standings were released Thursday. The Eagles have 621.00 points while Johns Hopkins University (Md.) leads with 865.00.
New York University is second with 727.00 points, Emory University (Ga.) third with 662.50 and Massachusetts Institute of Technology fourth with 660.00.
Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.) is fifth (627.00) followed by UW-La Crosse sixth (621.00), Middlebury College (Vt.) seventh (586.00), Williams College (Mass.) eighth (577.50), Amherst College (Mass.) ninth (572.25) and Tufts University (Mass.) 10th (570.00).
UW-La Crosse is the top Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) institution in the standings. UW-Eau Claire is in 15th-place (434.75 points) with UW-Whitewater 20th (377.25), UW-Oshkosh 31st (309.00), UW-Platteville (271.00), UW-Stout 53rd (216.50), UW-River Falls 76th (156.60) and UW-Stevens Point 79th (154.50).
These are the final set of winter standings with points awarded in the 12 sports of skiing, fencing, rifle, women's and men's indoor track & field, wrestling, women's and men's basketball, women's and men's swimming & diving and women's and men's hockey.
UW-La Crosse recorded 383.00 points for the 2024-25 winter season. The Eagles earned 100.0 points for the men's track & field winning the 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Championship, 85.0 points for the women's track & field team placing third at the indoor championships; 75.0 points for the wrestling squad placing fifth at the national championships; 73.0 points for the men's basketball team advancing to the Elite Eight and 50.0 points for the women's basketball team playing in the NCAA III Second Round.
The Eagles were 14th after the 2024 fall standings with 238.00 points. The fall standings include the eight sports of women's and men's cross country, women's and men's soccer, women's field hockey, women's volleyball, men's water polo and football. UW-La Crosse earned 100.0 points for the men's cross country team winning the NCAA Division III title, 63.0 points for women's cross country placing 13th nationally, 50.0 points for the football team advancing to the NCAA III Second Round and 25.0 points for soccer appearing in the national first round.
UW-La Crosse placed 11th in the 2023-24 LEARFIELD Directors' Cup. UW-La Crosse is one of seven institutions to finish in the top-40 in all 27 years of the LEARFIELD College Directors' Cup, joining Williams (Mass.), Amherst (Mass.), Middlebury (Vt.), Emory (Ga.), Ithaca College (N.Y.), and Washington-St. Louis (Mo.). The award was not presented in 2019-20 or 2020-21 due to the COVID-19 public health threat.
The Eagles have recorded 24 top-20 finishes in school history. UW-La Crosse has recorded 11 top-10 finishes overall, including a school-best seventh four times (2003-04, 2004-05, 2006-07, 2009-10).
The LEARFIELD Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's national finish in NCAA Championships.
