Baseball Falls In Top-15 Match-Up; Vivian Finishes With Two Hits and Two RBIs

Claremont, Calif. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse baseball team played their second top-15 opponent in three days as they fell 13-5 to #14 Pomona-Pitzer College (Calif.) Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • UWL got on the scoreboard right away in the first inning Emiliano Ramos led off with a walk and scored on Anthony Vivian's double to left field. Vivian would advance to third on Jack Olver's fly out and then score when Mac Born reached on an error. After Born moved to second on George Seaman's single, Andrew Rajkovich singled to center field to score Born and put the Eagles up 3-0. Seaman then scored on Logan Pye's sacrifice bunt to put UWL up 4-0. 
  • The Sagehens would get three of those runs back in their half of the inning as they scored three runs on three hits. Xavier Hattenbur provided the big hit when he drove in two runs with a double. 
  • Cooper Berry would give Pomona-Pitzer a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the second inning as he hit a three run home run.
  • JC Ng would make it 8-4 with a two run home runs of his own in the bottom of the third. 
  • Pomona-Pitzer would tack on a run in fourth, two runs in the fifth and a run in the six as they led 12-4 after six innings. 
  • The Sagehens make it 13-4 in the eighth inning as they score an unearned run on a Eagles throwing error. 
  • UWL would get a run in the top of the ninth inning as Calvin Hargrove recorded a one-out walk and advanced to second when James Rae was hit by a pitch. Vivan then drove in his second run of the game with a single to make it 13-5. 

FROM THE BOX SCORE
  • Offensively, UWL finished with five runs on five hits and four walks. 
  • Vivian led Eagles offensively as he finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored 
  • Ramos reached base three times via walks and scored a run while Rajkovich and Pye each drove in a run.
  • Owen Anderson (0-1) suffered the loss as he allowed six runs on sevens hits and two walks while striking out two in 2.0 innings.
  • The Sagehens were led by Jack Gold who finished 3-for-5 with a home run,  two RBIs and two runs scored while Berry was 2-for-5 with a home run, four RBIs and a run scored.
  • Ethan Collins (2-0) earned the win for the Sagehens as he allowed four runs on three hits and three walks while striking out two in 5.0 innings.
