Eagles Defeats UW-Whitewater; Breckwoldt and Christenson Win Events

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse gymnastics team came from behind in the fourth rotation to defeat UW-Whitewater.

Final Score: UW-La Crosse 192.600, UW-Whitewater 192.500
Location: Mitchell Hall, La Crosse, Wis.
Next Up: The Eagles will travel to Oshkosh, Wis. on Thursday, February 27 for their final regular season meet to face the Titans of UW-Oshkosh. Competition is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

HOW DID IT HAPPEN
    VAULT
  • As a team, the Warhawks finished with a 48.250 while both the Eagles scored a 48.200 on the vault. 
  • Paige Breckwoldt scored a season high and tied a career high on the vault as she won the event with a 9.800.
  • Finishing right behind Breckwoldt was teammate Grace Kehr with a 9.750. The 9.750 is a career high for Kehr on the vault. 

    UNEVEN PARALLEL BARS
  • UWL took home three of the top four spots on the uneven parallel bars as they scored a 47.925 as a team. UW-Whitewater finished with a 47.900.
  • With her 9.650 on the uneven parallel bars, Morgan Engels finished second individually.
  • In third place was Elizabeth Janssen with a 9.625 while Lauren Main tied for fourth with a 9.600. 
  • Ariana Goodwin of UW-Whitewater finished first with a 9.675.

    BALANCE BEAM
  • Raina Christenson  (9.775) won the balance beam event to lead the Eagles who finished with a 48.050. Paige Magel and Kelsey Kollhoff tied for tied for second with a 9.675 to lead UW-Whitewater on the balance beam as the Warhawks finished with a 48.025 as a team. 
  • Lauren Main finished fourth individually for the Eagles with a 9.625 while 
  • Madalyn McCormick was fifth with a 9.600.

    FLOOR EXERCISE
  • On the floor exercise, UWL recorded a 48.425 while UW-Whitewater finished with a 48.325.
  • The Eagles had three of the top five finishers with Hunter Matulka and Jessica Taylor tying for second place with with a 9.750. The 9.750 was a career high for Matulka. 
  • Finishing fifth overall was Grace Edwards with a 9.700. 
  • Kelsey Kollhoff of UW-Whitewater won the floor exercise with a 9.775.
