Brown Deer, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team remains in second-place after the third day of competition at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships (presented by Culver's) Friday night at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center.
The Eagles have 467 team points while UW-Eau Claire leads with 581. UW-Stevens Point is third (457) with UW-Whitewater fourth (327) and UW-Oshkosh fifth (201).
UWL won its third straight 200 freestyle relay on Friday with
Blake Nelson,
Jesse Hammes,
Alex Starr and
Tyler Hartmann finishing at 1:21.79. Nelson was also a member of the winning relay in 2023 and 2024 while Hartman was on the first-place relay in 2024.
A pair of swimmers recorded second-place individual finishes on Friday as
Jonah Elfers was second (49.86) in the 100 butterfly while
Davin Evans placed second (4:10.75) in the 400 I.M.
Other top-eight finishes included Nelson seventh (51.82) in the 100 butterfly on Friday while
Caleb Jondle was third (4:11.02) in the 400 I.M.
Ben Collins was third (56.50) and Hartmann sixth (57.47) in the 100 breaststroke. The Eagles'
Zach Vinson finished sixth (52.53) in the 100 backstroke.
