Brown Deer, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team remains in second-place after the second day of competition at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships (presented by Culver's) Thursday night at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center.
UW-Eau Claire leads with 302 points while UWL is second with 269. UW-Stevens Point is third (237) followed by UW-Whitewater (166) and UW-Oshkosh (123).
Preliminaries were not held Thursday due to a power outage.
In Thursday's action,
Blake Nelson captured the league title in the 50 freestyle (20.35). It is Nelson's second straight conference championship.
Jesse Hammes finished eighth (21.27) in Thursday's 50 freestyle.

Ben Collins,
Jonah Elfers and Nelson finished second in the 400 medley relay with a school record time of 3:21.25 on Thursday. The Eagles broke the UWL record of 3:22.66 set by Nick Litterer, Mitchell Johnson, Elfers and
Will Quackenbush set in 2023.
Other individual top-10 finishes on Thursday, including
Tyler Hartmann second (1:53.75) and
Caleb Jondle eighth (1:57.16) in the 200 I.M. with
Davin Evans finishing fifth (4:47.10) and
Ben Collins ninth (4:49.13) in the 500 freestyle.
UWL had six of the top-10 finishes in one-meter diving on Thursday.
Tony McNiff placed fourth (403.95 points) with
Evan Zimdars fifth (375.20),
Joey Marchiando seventh (352.20),
Aanav Patel eighth (348.75),
Ethan Pedersen ninth (314.35) and
Luke Zocher 10th (305.40).
