HOW DID IT HAPPEN
- Jenna Welsch would give UWL an early 5-0 lead with a three-pointer before Lawrence would tie it at 5-5 with 6:21 left in the first quarter. After UWL took a 9-5 lead, Lawrence scored eight of the final 10 points of the first quarter to lead 13-11.Â
- Scoring would be hard to come by in the second quarter as Lawrence was limited to just one point and UWL four points. The two teams combined 2-for-26 from the floor with UWL making both field goals. The Eagles would lead 15-14 at halftime.
- A three-point play would give Lawrence a 17-15 lead early in the third quarter but UWL would respond with back-to-back three-pointers by Rachel Agg and Lindsey Knuth to lead 21-17 with 6:01 left. UWL would extend their lead to 25-18. After an Agg jumper made it 29-22, Lawrence got back-to-back jumpers from Charlotte Brennan to cut the Vikings deficit to 29-26. Malia Nelson's jumper would give the Eagles a 31-26 lead heading into the fourth quarter.Â
- UWL would score five of the first seven points, including a three-pointer by Grace Knupp, to take its largest lead at 36-28. Lawrence would pull with in 36-34 (3:47); however, UWL got a Knupp free throw and six straight points by Molly Janke to push its lead to 43-34 with 1:11 remaining. Kate Adams hit a three-pointer to make it 43-37 but that would be as close as the Vikings would get as the Eagles hit three of their final four four free throws to seal the win.
