River Falls, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball team picked up their first win of the 2025-26 season with a 60-55 win over Calvin University (Mich.) in the UW-River Falls Invitational.

HOW DID IT HAPPEN
- The first quarter was back and forth as neither team led by more than four points. Trailing 12-10, UWL scored eight of the final 10 points to lead 18-14 at the end of the first quarter. Grace Knupp gave the Eagles the four point lead with a three-pointer at the end of the first quarter.
- UWL would extend their lead to 21-14 early in the second quarter before Calvin went on a 10-2 run to take a 24-23 lead with 2:31 left in the second quarter. Knupp would once again hit a three-pointer on the Eagles final possession of the second quarter to lead 28-24 at halftime.
- An Ali Sprangers layup would give the Eagles a 35-32 lead in the third quarter with 6:39 left. The Knights would score the next seven points to lead 39-35 (4:28). Malia Nelson would give the Eagles a 43-40 lead with :12 left but Chloe Wiegers hit a jumper at the end of the third quarter to cut Calvin's deficit to 43-32.
- The Knights would tie the game at 46-46 (7:38) but the Eagles would get back-to-back baskets from Ali Sprangers followed by a lay-up from Grace Knupp to lead 52-46 with 5:42 left. The Eagles would take its largest lead of the game at 58-51 (2:00) but the Knights would not get closer than five the rest of the way.

- As a team, the Eagles finished 22-of-57 (38.6%) from the floor including three-of-12 (25%) from the three-point line. UWL was also 13-of-18 (72.2%) from the free throw line.
- The Eagles finished with three players in double figures led by Malia Nelson with 13 points while Knupp scored 12 and Madisyn Kilboten had 11.
- Sprangers helped the Eagles finish with a 43-32 advantage on the boards as she finished with 8 rebounds.
- Calvin finished 24-of-60 (40%) from the floor including one-of-18 (5.6%) from the three-point line. The Knights were also six-of-13 (46.2%) from the free throw line.
- Chloe Wiegers led the Knights with 12 points while Hannah Sall added nine points and 8 rebounds.
