Colfax, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's cross country team placed fourth at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational Friday morning at Whitetail Golf Course.
The Eagles, ranked first on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Top-30 Poll, finished with 137 team points.
UW-Platteville took the team title with 104 points with UW-Stevens Point second with 111 and Hope College (Mich.) third with 119.
St. Olaf College (Minn.) finished fifth (143) with UW-Oshkosh sixth (164) and followed by UW-Whitewater seventh (186), UW-Eau Claire eighth (205), UW-Stout ninth (271) and Carthage College (Wis.) 10th (303). A total of 34 teams competed.
Seven runners placed in the top-49 for UWL, including
Isaac Ewing finishing 15th overall with a time of 25:27.1 on the 8,000-meter course.
Owen Layton was 16th (25:30.2) for the Eagles.
Mitch Garcia placed 35th (25:53.2),
Layne Aurit 41st (25:56.4),
Chase Altergott 43rd (25:58.5),
Logan Salzmann 45th (26:01.6) and
Aiden Jakubic 49th (26:05.8).
UWL's
Thomas Menefee finished 58th (26:16.0),
Jayden Sayles 65th (26:22.1),
Brady Norman 68th (26:23.4) and
Owen Pope 81st (26:35.9).
Mohammed Bati of Augsburg University (Minn.) won the individual title (24:39.6). A total of 322 runners completed the race.
UWL returns to action Saturday, October 18 at the Augustana College (Ill.) Interregional Invitational at 11 a.m.
