USTFCCCA Release
New Orleans, La. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's and men's cross country teams have been named to the list of the 2025 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Scholar Teams. UWL's women's squad compiled a 3.650 grade point average while the men's team recorded a 3.550 cumulative grade point average.
It marks the 20th time in the last 21 years the UWL women's team has earned the USTFCCCA Scholar Team Award while the Eagles' men's squad earned the honor for the 15th time in the last 16 seasons.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, programs must have compiled a cumulative GPA or 3.10 or higher on a 4.00 scale.Â
Four UWL student-athletes were named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Women's Team, including
Lucy Duchac (English and political science),
Lily Higgins (biochemistry and Spanish),
Becca Immer (psychology) and
Julia Zalewski (biochemistry). It is the second straight honor for Duchac.Â
UWL's men's squad was named the 2025 USTFCCCAÂ National Scholar Team of the Year for the second consecutive season. The Eagles earned the award for the first time in school history in 2024.Â

Owen Clark (exercise sport science),
Aidan Matthai (statistics),
Grant Matthai (statistics) and
Chuck Vater (computer science) were all named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.
Grant Matthai earned his fourth straight honor while
Aidan Matthai earned his third. Brown and Vater were named to the team for the second straight season.Â
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, honorees must have compiled a cumulative GPA or 3.30 or higher on a 4.00 scale and must have finished among the top-25 percent of finishers at their respective regional championships.
