UWL Remains Undefeated in Conference Play; Earns Shutout at UW-Stout

Menomonie, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team remained undefeated in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play with a 4-0 victory at UW-Stout Saturday afternoon at Nelson Field.

The Eagles, 18th in this week's NPI Rankings and receiving votes on the Untied Soccer Coaches Top-25 Poll, improve to 14-2 overall and 4-0 in the WIAC.

UWL extended its WIAC unbeaten streak to 25 (24-0-1) with Saturday's win. The Eagles are ranked third in the United Soccer Coaches Region IX.

UW-Stout drops to 7-6-3 overall and 1-1-2 in the WIAC.

UWL earned its 11th straight victory over UW-Stout on Saturday.

Aubree Caya got the scoring started on Saturday, scoring at 1:58 off a Sera Speltz assist for a 1-0 lead. Speltz made it 2-0 at 5:19 on Katelyn Studebaker's assist.

Jillian Sawadski extended the lead to 3-0 at 20:24 on a Caya assist and Caya scored her second goal of the game at 25:09 for a 4-0 advantage.

UWL finished with 22 shots in the game, including nine on goal. Sawadski, Riley Veenendaal and Claire Rankin each had a team-high three shots. Sawadski and Caya had two shots on goal. The Eagles hadd five corner kicks.

Summer Nicolai and Robin Blair combined for the shutout, UWL's 11th of the season. Nicolai and Blair each played a half with each recording three saves. 

UW-Stout totaled eight shots with six on goal. Calli Heinzerling led the Blue Devils with two shots, both on goal. UW-Stout had one corner kick.

Kaitlyn Krengel suffered the loss for UW-Stout, allowing four goals while registering four saves. Claire Olson had one save.
 
UWL returns to action Wednesday, October 22 hosting UW-Platteville at 6 p.m.
