La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team remained undefeated in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play with a 1-1 draw with UW-Platteville Wednesday night at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.
The Eagles, ranked sixth in the United Soccer Coaches Region IX, are now 14-2-1 overall and 4-0-1 in the WIAC. The Pioneers, ranked eighth in Region IX, are 8-4-3 overall and 2-1-2 in the conference.
UWL extends its WIAC unbeaten streak to 26 (24-0-2) with Wednesday's draw.Â
UWL took a 1-0 lead in the first half.
UWL took a 1-0 lead at 16:28 on an
Aubree Caya goal and
Monica Wawrzyn assist. The game remained, 1-0, at halftime.
The Eagles outshot the Pioneers, 17-3, in the first half. UWL had six corner kicks in the first 45:00 while UW-Platteville finished with three.
UW-Platteville tied the game at 1-1 at 52:39 off Jess Morawski's goal. Izzy Streeter recorded the save.
UWL finished with 27 shots, including 10 on goal. Caya and
Sera Speltz each totaled six shots with Caya recording three on goal and Speltz two.
Amaya Thesing had four shots while
Megan McNeely and
Ella Opie each had three. McNeely had a pair of shots on goal.Â
Monica Wawrzyn recorded an assist Wednesday.
The Eagles had eight corner kicks.
Summer Nicolai recorded two saves.
UW-Platteville totaled five shots with three on goal. Morawski finished with two shots, both coming on goal. The Pioneers finished with six corner kicks.
Marguerite Mueller registered nine saves for UW-Platteville.
UWL returns action Saturday, October 25 at UW-Oshkosh at 2 p.m.
