La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team placed second in a triangular Saturday afternoon in its season opener. The Eagles finished with 582 team points while St. Cloud State University (Minn.) won the title with 800 points. Truman State University (Mo.) was third with 564 points.
Diving competition was held in Mitchell Hall while swimming was held in Rochester, Minnesota.
In Saturday's diving,
Aanav Patel won the one-meter title with a score of 206.90 while
Ethan Pedersen was second with a score of 194.15. Patel swept the diving events with a winning score of 233.45 in three-meter action. Pedersen was second at 185.35.

UWL had a pair of relays record top-three finishes with
Jesse Hammes,
Preston Nygaard,
Luca Nociti and
Tyler Hartmann second (1:26.08) in the 200 freestyle relay with Hammes,
Ben Collins, Nociti and Hartmann third (1:34.63) in the 200 medley relay.
Individually, Nygaard won the 200 breaststroke (2:06.32) placed second in the 100 breaststroke (58.95). Collins was third (59.37) in the 100 breaststroke.
Davin Evans placed fourth (2:17.13) and
Gabe DeWald seventh (2:21.84) in the 200 breaststroke.
Jonah Elfers finished second (51.68) in the 100 butterfly while Hammes earned a pair of third-place finishes, including the 50 (21.45) and 100 (47.35) freestyle. Hartmann finished fourth (21.63) in the 50 freestyle and sixth (2:01.13) in the 200 I.M.
The Eagles'
Owen Acker finished fourth (2:02.62) in the 200 backstroke and eighth (5:08.17) in the 500 freestyle while
Caleb Jondle was fifth (2:03.06) in the 200 butterfly and eighth (2:04.70) in th 200 I.M.
In other top-eight places,
Caleb Smith finished sixth (2:06.37) in the 200 backstroke.
Nolan Sannito placed seventh (2:10.74) in the 200 butterfly and Nociti eighth (22.30) in the 50 freestyle.
