UWL Records Tenth Shutout of Season; Earns WIAC Home Win over UW-Eau Claire

La Crosse, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team improved to 13-1 overall and 3-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) with a 3-0 win over UW-Eau Claire Saturday night at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.

The Blugolds drop to 2-8-4 overall and 1-1-1 in the WIAC. UWL earned its sixth straight win over UW-Eau Claire. 

UWL ranked third in Region IX in the United Soccer Coaches, extends its WIAC unbeaten streak to 24 (23-0-1). The Eagles improve to 8-0 at home this season.

Katelyn Studebaker gave UWL a 1-0 lead at 23:01 off Jillian Sawadski's assist. It is Studebaker's sixth goal of the season. The game remained, 1-0, at halftime.

UWL outshot UW-Eau Claire, 16-3, in the first half and 7-1 in corner kicks. 

Aubree Caya

The Eagles took a 2-1 lead at 76:58 on Aubree Caya's team-leading 15th goal of the season on a Riley Veenendaal assist. UWL extended the advantage to 3-0 at 89:30 on Sera Speltz' ninth goal of the season with Megan McNeely registering the assist. 

UWL totaled 33 shots, including 14 on goal. Speltz had six shots and Caya five with both recording three shots on goal. Studebaker and Grace Williams each finished with four shots with Studebaker registering one on goal and Williams two. 

UWL had 11 corner kicks.

Summer Nicolai

Summer Nicolai recorded the shutout victory. It is UWL's 10th shutout of the season.

UW-Eau Claire finished with five shots with none coming on goal. The Blugolds were held to one corner kick.

Bella Jones suffered the loss, recording 11 saves. 

UWL returns to action Tuesday, October 14 at MSOE (Wis.) at 5 p.m.
