Stevens Point, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team placed third at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational Saturday night in the UWSP Aquatics Center.
The Eagles finished with 791.5 team points while Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) won the team title with 1,128.5. UW-Stevens Point was second with 925.0.
Hamline University (Minn.) placed fourth (160.0), UW-Eau Claire fifth (52.0) and Lawrence University (Wis.) sixth (25.0).
UWL's
Ben Collins won a pair of individual events on Saturday, taking the 200 freestyle (1:45.71) and 100 breaststroke (58.11).
The Eagles'
Jesse Hammes,
Tyler Hartmann,
Jonah Elfers and
Blake Nelson won the 200 medley relay (1:36.14) while Collins, Nelson,
Alex Starr and Hammes were third in the 400 freestyle relay (3:12.43).
Other top-six individual finishes included Nelson second (21.23) and Hartmann fourth (21.95) in the 50 freestyle while Elfers was second (51.93) in the 100 butterfly.
Tony McNiff placed third (441.65 points) in the three-meter diving competition.
Caleb Jondle finished fifth (4:27.76) in the 400 I.M. while
Sean Gillett tied for sixth (2:04.41) in the 200 backstroke.
UWL returns to action Saturday, February 1 with a dual at UW-Stevens Point at 1 p.m.
