Stevens Point, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team is in third-place after the first day of the UW-Stevens Point Invitational Friday night in the UWSP Aquatics Center.

The Eagles totaled 395.0 team points while Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) leads with 561.0. UW-Stevens Point is in second-place (420.0). Hamline University (Minn.) is fourth (71.0), UW-Eau Claire fifth (28.0) and Lawrence University (Wis.) sixth (13.0).

In Friday's action, UWL's
Ben Collins won the 200 breaststroke (2:05.29) with
Davin Evans second (2:12.59).

Other top-six finishes in swimming's individual events,
Jonah Elfers placed second (54.50),
Sean Gillett fifth (57.18) and
Zach Vinson sixth (57.30) in 100 backstroke.
Tyler Hartmann was third (2:01.47) and Gillett fifth (2:06.21) in the 200 I.M. while
Caleb Jondle placed third (4:59.01) in the 500 freestyle.

Jesse Hammes finished fourth (48.91) and
Blake Nelson fifth (49.17) in the 100 freestyle with Jondle fourth (2:01.50) and Vinson fifth (2:05.00) in the 200 butterfly.

In Friday's one-meter diving competition,
Tony McNiff placed third (431.25 points).

UWL's 200 freestyle relay finished second (1:25.61) with Nelson, Hammes,
Alex Starr and Hartmann. The Eagles' 400 medley relay of Vinson, Hartmann, Jondle and Starr placed third (3:39.26).
