Nationally Ranked UW-Whitewater Too Much For Eagles

La Crosse, Wis.  - Nationally ranked #3 UW-Whitewater was too much for the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team as they defeated the Eagles 3-0 Wednesday night.

HOW DID IT HAPPEN
  • UW-Whitewater got off to a fast start in set one as they scored seven of the first eight points to force a UWL timeout. The Warhawks would extend their lead to 16-5 and the Eagles would not get any closer than eight (18-10) as UW-Whitewater took the first set 25-14. 
  • With the score tied at two, UW-Whitewater scored 12 of the next 15 points to take a 14-5 lead. The Eagles would not be able to recover as they would not get any closer than nine the rest of the second set. UW-Whitewater finished the second set with 16 kills and no hitting errors. 
  • The third set saw the Eagles limited to just six kills and a -.125 hitting percentage. The Warhawks finished the third set on a 10-0 run.

  • As a team, the Eagles were limited to a -.078 as they finished with just 19 kills and 26 hitting errors. Gabby Johnson led the Eagles with five kills while Grace Nommensen and Bella Kottke each had four. 
  • Jackie Oetterer had eight assists while Nommenson had added seven. 
  • The Warhawks hit .438 as a team (39 kills, 4 errors) and were led by Jenna Weinfurt with 12 kills and Alayna Jansky added 11. 
  • Aubrie Krzus finished with 26 assists while Jaedynn Evans had 13 digs for the Warhawks.

  • UWL will travel to Madison, Wis. to play in the Edgewood College (Wis.) Triangular Saturday, September 28. The Eagles will play Loras College (Iowa) at 2 p.m. followed by Edgewood College (Wis.) at 4 p.m.
