Oshkosh, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse softball team advanced in the winner's bracket with a 5-0 victory over UW-Stout Thursday afternoon at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Tournament (presented by Culver's) at the UW-Oshkosh Softball Park.

The Eagles, the tournament's third-seed, improve to 24-17 and will face second-seeded UW-Stevens Point at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Sixth-seeded UW-Stout drops to 21-19 on the year. The Blue Devils will play fifth-seeded UW-Eau Claire in an elimination game at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 10.

UWL extended its winning streak to nine games with Thursday's win. The Eagles have recorded six shutouts during their winning streak.

Elise Weinzierl earned her third straight shutout.
Elise Weinzierl (10-5) earned the complete-game victory Thursday, pitching 7.0 innings, allowing three hits with eight strikeouts. It was Weinzierl's second complete-game win over UW-Stout this season. She pitched the second game in perfect history in a 8-0 victory on May 1, going 6.0 innings while recording eight strikeouts. It is Weinzierl's third straight complete-game shutout. She earned the victory in a 2-0 win over UW-Platteville on May 4, pitching 7.0 innings, allowing four hits with a career-high 11 strikeouts.Â

UWL tallied a pair of runs in the bottom of the first.
Cristin Casey singled with one out and stole second. She advanced to third on a wild pitch and came in on
Jordyn McCormack's two-run home run.
Abbey Bosch and
Marissa Pease singled and
Maddy Bornbach drew a walk to load the bases in the first inning, but
Anna Jensen struck out to end the inning.

The Eagles loaded the bases again in the bottom of the second, all coming with two outs. Casey walked followed by bunt singles from
Kyra Lard and McCormack, but Bosch grounded out for the third out.

In the bottom of the fourth,
Brooke Howard and Casey singled to start the inning. Howard was thrown out trying to steal third with Casey moving to second. Lard followed with a single with Casey coming into score on a UW-Stout throwing error. McCormack's RBI double scored Lard to extend the lead to 4-0.

UWL added to the lead in the fifth when pinch-runner
Aliyah Langrehr came in another Blue Devils' throwing error as Jensen stole second.

Five players recorded at least two hits for UWL as the team finished with 15 hits in the game. Lard went 3-for-4 with a run scored while McCormack finished 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Pease went 3-for-4. Casey was 2-for-3 with two runs and Bosch finished 2-for-4.

Anna Blanford (7-7) suffered the loss for UW-Stout. She went 3.0 innings, allowing eight hits, two runs and two walks with one strikeout. Three different players had a hit for the Blue Devils.
