La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse lacrosse team extended its season-opening winning streak to four with a 15-7 victory over The College of Saint Benedict (Minn.) Saturday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. The Eagles improve to 4-0 while the Bennies drop to 0-2.
Megan Maloney finished with three goals and two assists.
Emma Nelson scored the game's first goal for CSB with 14:15 left in the first quarter, but UWL responded with three straight goals.
Angie Olla tied it with 13:58 remaining on a
Kiersten Pelletier assist.
Grace Willmott gave the Eagles a 2-1 lead off
Ava Schiltz' assist with 13:03 left and
Megan Maloney extended it to 3-1 with 12:15 remaining. Â
CSB scored four of the last five goals in the first quarter to take a 5-4 lead. Lizzie Schrubbe cut it 3-2 with 10:45 left, but Schiltz' goal off a free position shot with 9:21 made it 4-2. Emma Olsand (8:08), Schrubbe (5:20) and Breya Sawyer (3:04) scored the final three goals to give the Bennies a 5-4 lead.Â
Emma Osland extended it to 6-4 with 14:00 left in the second quarter, but UWL used a 4-0 scoring run to take a 8-6 halftime lead. Willmott scored on a free position shot with 10:53 left to cut CSB's lead to 6-5. Maloney notched the next two goals at 7:49 and 4:02 to give the Eagles a 7-6 lead and
Britta Nelson scored on another Pelletier assist with 3:42 remaining to make it 8-6.
UWL outscored CSB, 7-1, in the second half. Schiltz scored the first two goals of the third quarter to give UWL a 10-6 lead. Willmott assisted on the second goal. Nelson scored with 5:46 left in the third quarter to make it 11-6.
Sydney Schmitz scored on a Schiltz assist with 3:21 remaining and Schiltz scored with 2:11 left on a Maloney assist.
CSB cut it to 13-7 on a Emma Halweg goal off a free position shot, but Willmott scored the final two goal for UWL. Maloney recorded her second assist of the game on the first goal.

UWL finished with 28 shots as Willmott and Schiltz each scored four goals with Schiltz adding two assists and Willmott one. Maloney had three goals and two assists while Nelson scored twice and Pelletier recorded two assists. Abigale Furlano earned the win, finishing with 11 saves. Willmott had a team-high five ground balls while
Julia Della Penna recorded a team-high three caused turnovers.Â
CBS totaled 32 shots in the game. Schrubbe and Osland each scored twice. Chloe Lewis recorded seven saves and five ground balls.Â
UWL returns to action Wednesday, March 20 at Aurora University (Ill.) at 6 p.m.Â
