NCAA Division III Central Diving Championships Website
Granville, Ohio - Three members of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's and men's swimming & diving team completed first day action at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Central Diving Championships Friday night in the Trumbull Aquatics Center at Denison University (Ohio).
In the women's one-meter competition, the Eagles'
Joanne Banaszak placed 19th (341.95 points) and
Madeline Weber 24th (319.70) in the one-meter competition. A total of 29 women competed in the one-meter.
Tony McNiff finished 12th (385.90) in the men's three-meter competition. Twenty divers competed in the three-meter.
Action continues on Saturday, March 2 with the women's three-meter at 2:15 p.m. (Central) and the men's one-meter at 11 a.m. (Central).
Banaszak and Weber are both be appearing in their second NCAA Division III Diving Regional. Banaszak placed 21st (334.15 points) and Weber 33rd (291.65) in the one-meter last season while Banaszak was 17th (357.40) and Weber 31st (322.10) in the three-meter.
McNiff is making his third career appearance in the NCAA Division III Diving Regional after placing 26th (335.65) in the one-meter in 2022 and 27th (356.60) in 2023. He finished 23rd in the three-meter competition in 2022 (371.80) and 2023 (392.75).
At the 2024 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships, Banaszak was named the WIAC Diver of the Meet after capturing the three-meter title (447.70) and finishing second (407.20) in the one-meter. Weber placed second (429.25) in the three-meter and third (404.55) in the one-meter.
On the men's side, McNiff finished second (472.90) in the three-meter competition and fourth (428.45) in the one-meter.
The NCAA Division III Championships are scheduled for Wednesday, March 20 through Saturday, March 23 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.
