Decorah, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team is in third-place after the first day of action at the Luther College (Iowa) Invitational Friday night.

The Eagles have 257 team points. UW-Whitewater leads with 543 points with Luther (Iowa) second with 458 and Coe College (Iowa) fourth with 117.

UWL had three relays place in the top-four on Friday, including the 200 freestyle relay (1:25.43) with
Blake Nelson,
Jesse Hammes,
Alex Starr and
Tyler Hartmann.

The 400 medley relay of Hammes, Hartmann,
Jonah Elfers and Nelson were third (3:28.80) with the 800 freestyle relay of
Sean Gillett,
Davin Evans,
Kyle Kosiak and
William Gargulak placed fourth (7:48.57).

In individual events on Friday, the Eagles had five of the top-seven finishers in the one-meter diving competition.
Evan Zimdars placed second (397.80 points) while
Joey Marchiando third (385.60),
Aanav Patel fourth (365.55),
Luke Zocher sixth (295.95) and
Ethan Pedersen seventh (264.65).

Starr finished third (56.46) in the 100 I.M. with Vinson fourth (56.07) in the 100 backstroke.

Jackson Plautz was fifth (49.16) and Starr eighth (49.67) in the 100 freestyle while Evans placed sixth (2:11.24) in the 200 butterfly.
