Platteville, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team returned to Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Friday night as they fell victim to 20th ranked UW-Platteville.

HOW DID IT HAPPEN
- The Pioneers would get off to a fast start in the first set as they opened up with a 13-4 run to force an Eagle timeout. UW-Platteville would extend their lead to 17-6 before UWL scored five straight to cut their deficit to 17-11. However, that would be as close as the Eagles would get as the Pioneers won the first 25-14.
- The two teams would trade points to start the second set before UW-Platteville turned 6-6 tie in to a 17-7 lead with an 11-1 run. The Eagles would score six of the next seven points to pull with in 18-13. The Pioneers would put it away though as they scored seven of the final 10 points to win the second set 25-16.
- UW-Platteville would jump out to an 11-3 lead in the final set before UWL went on a run of their own. UWL scored five of the next six points to cut their deficit to 12-8. With the Pioneers leading 20-12, the Eagles scored four straight points to force a UW-Platteville timeout. A kill by UWL's Annie Werner would make the score 23-19 but UW-Platteville would get a kill by Emma Carlson and force a UWL hitting error to win the third set 25-19.
FROM THE BOX SCORE
- As a team, the Eagles hit .183 and were led by Reese Yocum with eight kills while Gabby Johnson recorded seven.
- Jackie Oetterer led the team with 19 assists to go along with 10 digs for a double-double.
- UW-Platteville hit .348 as a team and were led by Carlson with 15 kills while Kennedy Wenger added 11 and Kierney McDonald finished with 10.

- UWL be back in action next on Saturday when they travel to Rock Island, Ill. to play in the Augustana College (Ill.) Triangular. The Eagles will play North Central College (Ill.) at 11 a.m. followed by Augustana College (Ill.) at 1 p.m.
