Decorah, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's cross country team earned a dual victory at Luther College (Iowa) Friday afternoon.
The Eagles, ranked first on this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division III Poll, finished with 15 points. The Norse totaled 50 points.
UWL had the top-11 finishers on Friday, including
Aidan Manning capturing the individual title with a time of 15:29.9 on the 5,000-meter course.
Nash Merklein was second (15:33.2) for the Eagles with
Ben Stangel third (15:38.8),
Parker Heintz fourth (15:40.5),
Logan Bell fifth (15:40.8),
Mitch Garcia sixth (15:44.2),
Luke Chaffin seventh (15:44.2),
Austin True eighth (15:50.3),
Zach Slevin ninth (15:50.6),
Kade Layton 10th (15:52.2) and
Thomas Menefee 11th (15:53.4).
The Eagles'
Logan Salzmann finished 13th (15:53.7),
Chase Altergott 14th (15:59.7) and
Diego Serraino 16th (16:03.7).
A total of 42 runners completed the course.
UWL returns to action Saturday, November 2 at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships. Action starts at 1 p.m. at Wisconsin River Golf Course in Stevens Point.
