La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team fell, 180.5 to 119.5, to UW-Stevens Point Saturday afternoon in the Richard L. Pein Natatorium.
The Eagles won six events on Saturday, including sweeping the relays.
Jesse Hammes,
Tyler Hartmann,
Jacob Ketterling and
Blake Nelson won the 200 medley relay (1:34.26) while Hammes, Ketterling, Nelson and
Will Quackenbush took the 400 freestyle relay (3:11.26).
Nelson tied for first (21.85) in the 50 freestyle while Hammes won the 100 freestyle (48.30), Quackenbush the 200 freestyle (1:46.19) and Hartmann the 100 breaststroke (1:00.07). Hartmann was also second in the 200 backstroke (2:14.42) and 200 I.M. (2:01.47).
UWL's
Connor Cleveland recorded three top-four finishes on Saturday, placing second in the 100 freestyle (48.54), third in the 50 freestyle (22.24) and fourth in the 200 freestyle (1:49.18). Ketterling placed second (1:56.66) in the 200 backstroke and third (52.64) in the 100 butterfly while
Jonah Elfers was third in the 200 butterfly (2:02.50) and fourth in the 100 butterfly (53.79).
Jonathan Pella finished third in the 200 breaststroke (2:16.04) and fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.97) while
Caleb Jondle finished fourth in the 200 I.M. (2:04.25) and 200 butterfly (2:02.70). Hammes finished fourth (55.02) in the 100 backstroke and
Sebiyam Werdin-Kennicott fourth (10:35.35) in the 1,000 freestyle.
Tony McNiff was second (303.60) in the three-meter diving competition and third (265.05) in the one-meter while
Evan Zimdars placed fourth in the three (247.25) and one-meter (227.05).
UWL returns to action Saturday, February 3 at the Dodd Road Diving Invitational in Northfield, Minnesota at 11 a.m. and with a dual at UW-Whitewater at 1 p.m.
