Volleyball Falls to UW-Whitewater in WIAC Matchup

Whitewater, Wis.  - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team fell to 8th-ranked UW-Whitewater Wednesday night in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play. 
 
THE BASICS 
Final Score:
  UW-Whitewater defeated UW-La Crosse 25-14, 25-14, 25-20. 
Location: Kris Russell Volleyball Arena in Williams Center, Whitewater, Wis.
Records: UWL 12-6 (0-2 WIAC), UW-Whitewater 11-2 (1-1 WIAC)
 
HOW DID IT HAPPEN
  • UWL took an early 4-2 lead in the first set; however, UW-Whitewater scored nine of the next 11 points to lead 11-6. UWL would not get any closer than three points (12-9) as the Eagles hit .036 from the floor. 
  • The Warhawks jumped out to a 12-3 run in the second set and never allowed the Eagles closer than six points (15-9) the whole set. UWL was held to just three kills while committing seven hitting errors. 
  • WIth the score tied at 4, the Warhawks went on a 6-1 run to take a 10-5 lead. UWL cut their deficit to 11-9 but UW-Whitewater quickly answered with a 6-1 run to make it 17-10. UWL would once again cut it down to one (18-17) but the Warhawks closed out the set with a 7-3 run to take the third set 25-20.  

FROM THE BOXSCORE
  • Brianne Korducki led the Eagles with 6 kills and 10 digs.
  • Taylor Larson led the UWL defense with nine digs.  
  • Jackie Oetterer finished with nine assists  and two service aces.
  • Jenna Weinfurt led the Warhawks with 12 kills and six digs.
  • Aubrie Krzus finished with 32 assists for UW-Whitewater. 

 UP NEXT
  • UWL will head back to Whitewater, WIs. to play non-conference matches with Millikin University (Ill.) and Elmhurst University (Ill.) on Saturday, September 30. The first match will start at 11 a.m while the second match will be at 1 p.m.
