Madison, Wis. - University of Wisconsin-La Crosse student-athletes earned the 2022-23 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) All-Academic Award, the league office announced Monday. The WIAC All-Academic Award is presented to those institutions with a grade point average of its student-athletes that is equal to, or greater than, the grade point average of the overall student body. UW-La Crosse student-athletes compiled a 3.340 cumulative grade point average with the overall student body finishing at 3.280.
It is the 21st time in the last 22 years the UWL student-athlete grade point average was higher than the combined grade point average of the overall student body.
All eight institutions, UW-Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Platteville, UW-River Falls, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Stout and UW-Whitewater earned the 2022-23 WIAC All-Academic Award. It marked the second time (2020-21) in conference history every institution earned the distinction.
UW-La Crosse posted the second-highest combined grade point average among the eight WIAC institutions in 2022-23 with its 3.340. UW-Stout led the conference (3.369) with UW-Eau Claire third (3.339).
UW-La Crosse recorded 434 student-athletes with a cumulative grade point average of 3.000 or higher in 2022-23. The 434 honors ranked second in the league with UW-Eau Claire first (501) and UW-Whitewater third (396).
During the 2022-23 academic year, over 50 percent of the student-athletes competing in the conference achieved a 3.000 grade point average or better (on a 4.000 scale) and were named to the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll.
