Lacrosse Extends Winning Streak to Seven with Victory at UW-Stout

Menomonie, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse lacrosse team extended its winning streak to seven with a 22-3 victory at UW-Stout Friday afternoon. The Eagles improve to 8-2 on the season while the Blue Devils drop to 0-8.

UWL outscored UW-Stout, 7-1, in the first quarter, and 6-0 in the second quarter to take a 13-1 halftime lead. 

Ava Schiltz took a 1-0 lead with 14:45 left in the first quarter on an assist from Grace Willmott. UW-Stout tied the game at 1-1 with 13:30 remaining on Loryn Tornell's goal. Willmott gave the Eagles a 2-1 lead with 12:37 left after Lauren Schwartz assist. Schiltz scored two more goals in the quarter while Willmott had one. Abigail Steigauf and Megan Feeney also scored in the quarter.  Action Shot

In the second quarter, Olivia Wight, Oliva Gscheidmeier, Schiltz, Willmott, Kaley Hendrick and Megan Malony scored for UWL as the Eagles took a 13-1 lead.

UWL tallied five goals in the third quarter while UW-Stout scored once as the Eagles took a 18-2 lead. Abby Franta gave UWL a 14-1 lead with 11:40 remaining in the third quarter while Schwartz scored with 5:59 left for a 15-1 advantage. Schiltz, Lydia Spencer and Maloney also scored in the quarter.

Schwartz scored a pair of goals in the fourth quarter while Emily Hageman and Abby Norling each scored once. 

UWL finished with 51 shots in the game. Schiltz led the Eagles with five goals while Schwartz and Willmott each scored twice. Willmott added two assists. Schwartz had five ground balls and four caused turnovers. Hageman recorded one save in goal. 

UW-Stout was held to six shots. Three different players scored for the Blue Devils. Tessa Bailey recorded 14 saves.

UWL returns to action Wednesday, April 12 at UW-River Falls at 5 p.m .
