La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse lacrosse team extended its winning streak to three as it defeated Cornell College (Iowa), 17-4, Saturday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. The Eagles improve to 4-2 overall while the Rams fall to 5-4 on the season.

The Eagles got off to a fast start as they scored the first four goals of the game.
Abigail Steigauf got the scoring going for the Eagles with her goal in the 10th minute. Back-to-back free position goals by
Lauren Schwartz and
Ava Schiltz gave the Eagles the 3-0 lead.
Britta Nelson then scored on an assist by
Kiersten Pelletier with 4:33 left in the first quarter. The Rams got on the scoreboard in the third minute on an unassisted goal by Brynn Miroslavich. Nelson scored her second goal of the first quarter in the second minute while
Olivia Gscheidmeier gave the Eagles a 6-1 lead with :11 remaining. Nelson assisted GscheidmeierÂ
UWL outscored Cornell, 5-1, in the second quarter. Schwartz and Nelson each scored two goals while Schiltz scored the fifth goal of the quarter. Schiltz, Pelletier and Gscheidmeier recorded assists in the second quarter. Anna Methe scored the lone goal of the second quarter for the Rams. UWL led, 11-2, at halftime.Â
Only one goal was scored in the third quarter as Schiltz scored on an assist by
Alyssa Bailey in the sixth minute to give the Eagles a 12-2 lead.Â
Grace Willmott would give the Eagles a 13-2 lead just over a minute into the fourth quarter on Gscheidmeier's second assist of the game. Then in the tenth minute, Bailey gave UWL a 14-2 lead on an assist by
Olivia Wight. Sabrina Ibanez scored on a free position shot for the Rams to make it 14-3 with 7:53 left in the game. UWL would score the next three goals to lead 17-3 with 1:44 on the clock. Willmott scored her second goal of the game while
Megan Maloney scored the final two goals for the Eagles. Cece Zanoni scored the final goal of the game for Cornell to make it 17-4 with :21 left.Â

UWL finished the game with a 40-12 shot advantage. Schwartz led the Eagles with 11 shots including scoring three goals. Nelson finished with four goals on seven shots. Also finishing with multiple goals for the Eagles was Schiltz (3), Willmott (2) and Maloney (2). Pelletier recorded three assists while Gscheidmeier finished with two. Abigale Furlano earned the win in goal for the Eagles finishing with four saves.Â
The Rams were led offensively by Zanoni with five shots and a goal. Hannah Miech suffered the loss in goal for Cornell finishing with nine saves.Â
UWL will return to action on Wednesday, March 29 when it travels to River Forest, Illinois to play Concordia University Chicago at 2 p.m.
