Brown Deer, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's swimming & diving team sits in second-place after the second day of competition at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships (presented by Culver's) Thursday night in the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center. UW-Eau Claire is in first-place with 347.0 points while UWL is in second with 283.0. UW-Stevens Point is third (185.0) followed by UW-Whitewater (137.0) and UW-Oshkosh (132.0).
In Thursday's action, the Eagles had five top eight finishes including
Lauren Steien winning the 200 I.M. with a time of 2:09.36.
Autumn Seebach (2:10.72) was fourth and
Jordy Hahlen (2:15.68) eighth. It is Stein's second consecutive league crown in the 200 I.M.
Claire Vandenhouten finished sixth (5:18.37)in the 500 freestyle Thursday while
Kylee Sommer was fourth (24.55) in the 50 freestyle.
Also placing for the Eagles in the 500 freestyle was
Amelia Olson in 10th-place (5:18.75) and Maddie Richter 13th (5:22.87). Lilly Rosenau (2:14.03),
Makenzie Wallace (2:14.49) and Ally Wallander (2:14.75) placed 10th, 12th and 13th, respectively in the 200 I.M. for UWL.
Brooke Laube was 10th (25.01) in the 50 freestyle with
Paige Rundahl 12th (25.23) and
Brooke Presny 14th (25.39).
The 400 medley relay of Hahlen, Steien,
Maddy Albert-Nelson and
Reilly Eiynck placed second (3:52.09).
UWL returns to action Friday at the WIAC Championships with preliminaries starting at 10 a.m.
