HOW DID IT HAPPEN
  • The two teams traded points back and forth over the first 20 points of the first set as neither team led by more than two points. With the score tied 10-10, the Eagles scored three of the next four points to lead 13-11. UW-River Falls battled back to tie it at 18 before the Eagles took a 22-20 lead on kills by Grace Nommensen and Gabrialla Johnson. However, the Falcons would score the final five points of the set including three kills and a service ace to win set one 25-22.
  •  Trailing 12-9 in the second set, UW-River Falls went on an 11-0 run to lead 20-12. The run included four Falcon kills and a service ace. The Eagles would not get any closer than four (23-19) the rest of the set. UWL hit just .048 in the set as they were limited to 11 kills and nine hitting errors.
  • UWL jumped out to an 8-3 lead in the third set and would never trail. After UWL took its largest lead of the set (23-15), UW-River Falls cut their deficit to 23-20 on a 5-0 run. Back-to-back kills by Brianne Korducki would give the Eagles the final two points they needed to force a fourth set.
  • UW-River Falls took an early 9-7 lead in the fourth set before UWL went on a 5-0 run to lead 12-9. After the Eagles extended their lead to 16-13, the Falcons scored the next four points to lead 17-16. The Falcons would take a 23-20 lead but the Eagles would force back-to-back hitting errors to cut their deficit to 23-22. But an Eagle hitting error and a Lauren Noth kill would give the Falcons their final two points for the win.
