Stevens Point, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming and diving team dropped a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual to UW-Stevens Point 198-99 Saturday afternoon at UWSP Aquatic Center. The Eagles fall to 3-2 in duals this season, including 2-2 in the WIAC.
UWL won four events on Saturday, including
Tony McNiff winning the one meter diving with a score of 275.10. McNiff also finished second in the three-meter dive with a score of 297.85.
In swimming,
Andrew Perrin finished first in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:12.03. Mitch Johnson had two first place finishes as he won both the 100 yard breaststroke (1:00.12) and the 200 yard breaststroke (2:13.22).
Other top three finishes for the Eagles included
Brevin Kruse finishing third in the 100 yard backstroke (56.15) while
Caleb Davey was third in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:03.82).
Zach Vinson was second in the 200 yard butterfly (2:08.01) and
Blake Nelson was third in the 50 yard freestyle (21.90). In a time of 48.43, Nick Litterer finished second in the 100 yard freestyle while Davey was third in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:18.90). Then in the 500 yard freestyle,
Caleb Jondle finished third with a time of 5:02.49.
Jonah Elfers finished third in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 53.93).
The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday, February 4th when they travel to Northfield, MInn. to compete in the Dodd Road Diving Invitational.
