La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse gymnastics team opened its home schedule capturing the UWL Triangular Sunday afternoon in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles finished with a team score of 188.225 while Simpson College (Iowa) was second at 179.850 and Hamline University (Minn.) third at 175.950.
Rachel Chesley
UWL scored 47.825 on the vault, 47.350 on the uneven parallel bars, 45.875 on the balance beam and 47.175 on the floor exercise.
The Eagles won three individual event titles on Sunday.
Alex Wood captured the vault (9.800),
Rachel Chesley the uneven parallel bars (9.550) and
Caelen Lansing the floor exercise (9.600). Wood and Chesley tied for second (9.425) on the floor exercise.
Wood's score of 9.800 on the vault is tied for sixth-highest in school history.
Cate Sandvik tied for fourth (9.400) and
Jessica Taylor was sixth (9.325) on the floor exercise.
UWL's
Sarah Pastore finished second (9.725),
Madi Vanderpool third (9.575) and
Hannah Hautala fifth (9.450) on the vault Sunday. Hautala was also third (9.425) on the balance beam.
The Eagles took the top-six places on the uneven parallel bars. Along with Chesley taking the crown, Vanderpool and Sandvik tied for second (9.475) with
Kerrie Legault fourth (9.450),
Sara Beck fifth (9.400) and
Claudia Walter sixth (9.000).
Simpson's (Iowa) Baily Tessena won the balance beam (9.600). The Storm's Avery Ingram was the only gymnast to compete in the all-around (35.925).
