La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team, ranked 18th on this week's United Soccer Coaches Top-25 Poll, finished in a 1-1 tie with seventh-ranked Wartburg College (Iowa) Wednesday night at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. The Eagles are now 7-1-1 on the season while the Knights are 9-0-1.
The Eagles are ranked second and the Knights first in the United Soccer Coaches North Region.

In the 16th meeting between the two teams, the first half finished in a 0-0 tie Wednesday night. UWL totaled 12 shots in the first 45:00 while Wartburg (Iowa) finished with six.
The Eagles had five corner kicks to the Knights' one in the first half.
UWL took a 1-0 lead at 52:10 as
Claire Cater scored her third goal of the season off a
Ellie Arndt assist. Wartburg (Iowa) responded with the tying goal at 57:26 as Lauren Kirkle scored off Sarah Campbell's corner kick. Campbell was recorded with an assist.
Each team had a shot in the final 2:00 of the game with UWL's
Kaitlyn Kurtz getting her shot saved at 88:31 by Marissa Lopez. Wartburg's (Iowa) Kate Berglund's shot was wide at 89:36.
UWL finished with 23 shots, including seven on goal.
Ainsley Allan led the Eagles with four shots while Cater, Kurtz and
Isabel Batley each totaled three. Allan and Cater each had two shots on goal. UWL finished with eight corner kicks with three coming in the final 45:00.
Wartburg (Iowa) totaled 15 shots on Wednesday with seven on goal. Campbell had a team-high four shots, including three on goal. Berglund had three shots while Kirkle, Kate Luers, Gabby Corday and Joy Smith each had two shots. The Knights finished with three corner kicks.
Ainsley Allan had four shots on Wednesday night.
Sophia Anger recorded six saves for UWL while Lopez also finished with six saves for Wartburg (Iowa).
UWL returns to action Saturday, October 1 hosting UW-Stevens Point at 5 p.m. in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) opener for both teams.
