Kenosha, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse lacrosse team fell 18-6 at Carthage College (Wis.) Saturday afternoon at Art Keller Field. The Eagles drop to 3-3 on the season while the Firebirds improve to 9-1.
Carthage (Wis.) took a 2-0 lead on goals from Margaux Giacotto and Maddie Berni in the first quarter. UWL tied the game at 2-2 on
Lauren Schwartz' goal with 12:26 remaining in the first quarter and
Megan Feeney's goal with 10:00 left.
Nicole Jernander recorded an assist on the goal by Feeney. The Firebirds went on a 5-0 scoring run to take a 7-2 lead with Hanna Holloway scoring a pair of goals.

Britta Nelson's assist cut the lead to 7-3 after the first quarter.
Carthage (Wis.) scored the game's only three goals in the second quarter to take a 10-3 halftime lead. Holloway had two goals in the quarter.
The Firebirds took a 13-3 lead with 7:03 remaining in the third quarter when Schwartz (4:42) and Jernander (:27) scored for the Eagles to cut the deficit to 13-5 after three quarters.
Carthage (Wis.) scored the first four goals in the fourth quarter for a 17-5 advantage. Schwartz scored her third goal of the game with 5:25 remaining with an assist from
Anna Reifschneider to make it 17-6 before the Firebirds got the final goal with 2:50 left.
UWL finished with 16 shots in the game, including 11 on goal. Schwartz led the Eagles with three goals and six shots with five on goal. Feeney scored twice. Abigale Furlano (45:00) recorded 15 saves for UWL while
Emily Hageman (15:00) had one. Nelson and
Grace Willmott finished with a team-high five ground balls while Schwartz and Furlano each had four.
Carthage (Wis.) totaled 47 shots with 34 on goal. Holloway finished with six goals on 10 shots, including eight on goals. Margauex Giacotto had four goals and two assists while finishing with a team-high 15 shots and nine on goal. Alessandr Almendarez had five saves.
UWL returns to action Friday, April 8 hosting UW-Eau Claire at 7 p.m.
