Whitewater, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse gymnastics squad dropped its Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual at UW-Whitewater Friday night in Russell Arena. The Eagles finished with a team score of 189.250 while the Warhawks took the dual crown with a total of 191.650.
UWL scored 47.050 on the vault, 46.375 on the uneven parallel bars, 47.850 on the balance beam and 47.925 on the floor exercise. The Eagles' score of 47.850 on the balance beam set a season-high.
Jessica Taylor tied for fifth on floor exercise.
Individually, UWL won two event titles Friday night. The Eagles'
Rachel Chesley tied for first on the vault (9.675) while
Emma Grant captured the balance beam (9.675). Chelsey was also fourth on the floor exercise (9.725) to lead UWL.
Other top-six finishes for UWL included
Kerrie Legault third (9.625) on the uneven parallel bars with
Madi Vanderpool and
Molly Lyngaas tied for fourth (9.550).
Megan Hawkins was fourth (9.500) on the vault with
Kyla Dickson tied for sixth (9.425). Dickson also tied for fourth on the balance beam (9.625) with teammate
Olivia Opheim.
The Eagles'
Cate Sandvik and
Jessica Taylor tied for fifth (9.600) on the floor exercise.
UWL returns to action Friday, February 18 at UW-Oshkosh at 6 p.m.
