La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball team improved to 7-0 on the season with a 87-35 win over UW-Superior Friday afternoon in Mitchell Hall in the Gundersen Hotel & Suites Thanksgiving Classic. The Yellowjackets drop to 2-3 on the season.
Ali Sprangers had eight points for the Eagles.
It marks UWL's first 7-0 start since winning its first 11 games in 2018-19.

In the first meeting between the team since the 2015-16 season, UWL never trailed in Friday's game. The Eagles scored the first seven points of the game. UW-Superior later cut the lead to 11-7 on Katie Dobson's three-point field goal with 3:45 left in the first quarter. UWL went on a 7-1 run to lead 18-10 after
Lauryn Milne's layup with 1:29 remaining. The Eagles led, 18-9, after the first quarter.
Bryton Kukowski's jumper for UW-Superior cut the lead to 19-11 with 8:07 left in the second quarter when UWL went on a 13-0 run to take a 32-11 advantage with 4:36 remaining after
Kailee Meeker's three-pointer. The Yellowjackets cut it to 38-17, but the Eagles scored the final five points of the quarter to take a 43-17 halftime lead.Â
UWL outscored UW-Superior, 44-18, in the second half, holding the Yellowjackets to six points in the final quarter.Â
Fifteen different players scored for UWL with
Gabby Ritchie finishing with a game-high 12 points.
Kyah Steiner totaled nine points while Milne, Pagie Schumann and
Ali Sprangers each finished with eight. Meeker,
Carly Coulthart and
Annika Gustafson each had seven points. Meeker had a team-high six rebounds while tying for the team lead with Schumann with five assists. Coulthart had four steals and two blocks. Steiner also had two blocks.

Lauryn Milne finished with eight pionts and three rebounds.
UWL shot 49.2% from the field, including 31.8% (seven-of-22) from three-point range, and 76.9% (20-of-26) at the free throw line.Â
Kaelyn Christian led UW-Superior with 10 points. The Yellowjackets hot 23.9% from the field, including 16.7% (two-of-12) from three-point range, and 50.0% (11-of-22) at the line.Â
UWL returns to action Saturday, November 26 hosting MSOE (Wis.) at 3 p.m.Â
