Volleyball Sweeps Four Matches in Ripon Invite

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 Ripon, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team earned four victories at the Ripon College (Wis.) Invitational Friday and Saturday in Weiske Gymnasium.  The Eagles improve to 5-0 on the season, winning all five matches in straight sets. 

In Friday's action, UWL defeated Northland College, Wis. (25-11, 25-16, 25-12) and host Ripon, Wis. (25-8, 25-16, 25-12).  The Eagles also earned a pair of victories Saturday, defeating Marantha Baptist College, Wis. (25-16, 25-13, 25-11) and Finlandia University, Mich. (25-20, 25-11, 25-19).

The Eagles' Emma Lawrence and Sophie Quelle were both named to the all-tournament team at the conclusion of play. 

UWL is 5-0 on the season for the first time since winning nine straight to start the 2016 campaign.  The Eagles have won all five of their matches this season in straight sets. It marks the first time since UWL won five consecutive matches in straight sets since 2005.

Versus Northland (Wis.), UWL hit .244 (33-13-82) with Lawrence recording a team-high nine kills. Brianne Korducki finished with seven while hitting .545 (7-1-11). Jackie Oetterer finished with 13 assists and Grace Gilles led the Eagles with nine digs. 

Lawrence hit .308 (12-4-26) in the win over Ripon (Wis.), finishing with a team-high 12 kills. Sydney Fedderly had nine kills while hitting .533 (9-1-15) and Korducki finished with seven kills and hit .312 (7-2-16). Megan Adams led UWL with 19 assists while also recording 11 digs. Oetterer had 15 assists. Lawrence and Quelle led the team with 14 digs each. 

Against Marantha Baptist (Wis.), Lawrence finished with 10 kills while hitting .368 (10-3-19). UWL hit .398 (45-12-83) overall. Madison Weisenhel had seven kills in eight attempts (.875) as 13 different players recorded a kill. Adams and Oetterer each had 13 assists while Isabelle Jensen led UWL with 10 digs. 

UWL returns to action Friday, September 10 with a pair of matches in St. Paul, Minnesota.  The Eagles face host University of Northwestern (Minn.) at 3 p.m. and the University of Dubuque (Iowa) at 5 p.m.
