Soccer Rallies for Home Win over St. Scholastica

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team improved to 6-1-1 on the season with a 3-2 win over The College of St. Scholastica (Minn.) Saturday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. The Saints fall to 1-5-2.

The Eagles, winners of four straight, took an early 1-0 lead at 2:48 as Rachael Janes scored with an assist from Chelsea Gale.  The Saints tied the game 1-1 at 21:25 with a Ellie Keillor goal assisted by Elisa Galyen. The game remained tied at halftime, with UWL outshoot St. Scholastica (Minn.) 21-3, in the first 45:00. The Eagles had all six corner kicks in the first half.

Morgan Friday gave the Saints an early lead 2-1 in the second half, scoring an assisted goal at 46:41.  Ainsley Allan would force a 2-2 tie at 67:22 with Ellie Behnke recording an assist.  Allan scored the eventual game-winning goal at 73:41 for a 3-2 lead off a Megan Goodman assist.  

UWL finished with 38 shots in the game, including 17 on goal.  Allan ended with three shots (two on goal) and two goals, while Janes had five shots (two on goal) and a goal. Behnke finished with three shots, all on goal, with one assist. Thirteen different players had a shot for UWL. The Eagles had eight corner kicks in the game.

Quinn Shannon earned the win in goal, played all 90 minutes at goalkeeper, with one save.

St. Scholastica (Minn.) finished with five shots with two on goal. Friday had three shots with one on goal. Brianna Jorgenson recorded had 12 saves while playing 78:24 in goal with Taelynn Gittins finishing with two saves in 11:36.

UWL returns to action Sunday. September 26 hosting MSOE (Wis.) at 1 p.m.
