UWL Drops Home Contest Against Carroll (Wis.)

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse lacrosse team fell 18-3 against Carroll University (Wis.) Saturday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. The Eagles drop to 3-2 on the season while the Pioneers improve to 5-1. 
 
 UWL's Abigail Steigauf would win the first draw control of the game, later running it down the field to assist Nicole Jernander who found the back of the net just :46 into the game. Carroll (Wis.) would score the next 10 goals in the first half until Anna Davis cut their run at 1:43 scoring her first goal of the day. 
 
The Eagles would head into half time trailing 10-2. The Pioneers would outshoot UWL 26-3 in the first half.

Rachel Kunz had a team-high seven ground balls. 

 
Grace Willmott would score inside the eight-meter, assisted from Valerie Johnson to make it a 13-3 game with 18:20 remaining. However the Pioneers would score the next five goals to end the game. 
 
UWL finished the day with seven shots, five on goal while collecting 21 ground balls. Rachel Kunz led the Eagles with seven ground balls and two caused turnovers. Steigauf also finished with two caused turnovers and one draw control. 
 
Abi Furlano would take the loss in goal making a career high 12 saves while getting five ground balls. 
 
Carroll (Wis.) finished with 40 shots, 30 on goal while collecting 28 ground balls. Clara Jelacic led the Pioneers with seven goals and winning 11 draw controls. Rebecca McDaniel earned the win in net making one save. 
 
UWL returns to action Wednesday, March 24 at Loras College (Iowa) at 5 p.m.
