La Crosse, Wis. - University of Wisconsin-La Crosse winter teams start its 2020-21 competition on Wednesday, February 3 as the men's basketball program hosts UW-Eau Claire and the women's basketball team travels to UW-Eau Claire.
All eight basketball teams in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) are divided into two divisions this year with UW-Oshkosh, UW-Platteville, UW-Stevens Point and UW-Whitewater in the East and UW-Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse, UW-River Falls and UW-Stout in the West. Each team is scheduled to play two games against each divisional opponent, as well as two games against one cross-over opponent, for a total of eight games. All eight teams will qualify for the WIAC Championship beginning March 1. The winner of the conference tournament receives an automatic National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) bid. The NCAA Division III Championship is scheduled to start March 11.
The wrestling team starts its campaign at UW-Eau Claire Thursday, February 4. Conference teams will compete in a dual-meet schedule until February 19. The WIAC Championship, originally scheduled to be hosted by UW-Oshkosh on February 13, has been canceled. UW-Eau Claire is currently scheduled to host the NCAA Division III Upper Midwest Regional February 26-27, while UW-La Crosse is currently scheduled to host the NCAA Division III Championship March 12-13 at the La Crosse Center. UW-La Crosse will host one regular-season dual versus UW-Stevens Point February 19 in Mitchell Hall Fieldhouse.
UW-La Crosse's women's and men's indoor track & field teams start Saturday, February 6 with a dual at UW-Oshkosh. Teams will compete in meets until March 6. The WIAC Championships, originally scheduled to be hosted by UW-Platteville February 26-27, have been canceled. The NCAA Division III Championships are currently scheduled to be held March 12-13 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
The Eagles' women's and men's swimming & diving teams begin their 2020-21 seasons Saturday, February 13 at UW-Oshkosh. Teams will participate in dual meets until March 6. The WIAC Championships, originally scheduled to be hosted by UW-Stevens Point at Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer, Wis., February 17-20, have been canceled. The NCAA Division III Championships are currently scheduled for March 17-20 at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash.
Women's gymnastics hosts UW-Oshkosh Saturday, February 27 in its first dual of the year. The Eagles will host UW-Whitewater Tuesday, March 23. Teams will participate in dual meets until April 3. The WIAC Championship, originally scheduled to be hosted by UW-Oshkosh March 12, has been canceled. The National Collegiate Gymnastics Association previously announced that its championship has been canceled. The event was scheduled to be hosted by Winona State University (Minn.).
