La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse gymnastics team earned a 188.150-186.500 dual victory over UW-Oshkosh in its season opener Saturday afternoon in Mitchell Hall.
The Eagles finished with a score of 47.500 on the vault, 47.225 on the uneven parallel bars, 46.850 on the balance beam and 46.575 on the floor exercise.
Kacey Mortenson took the all-around title (37.050) Saturday while finishing tied for fourth on the uneven parallel bars (9.375), fifth on the vault (9.450) and fifth on the floor exercise (9.325).
UWL's
Madi Vanderpool won the vault title (9.650) while
Kerrie Legault captured the uneven parallel bars (9.650). Vanderpool was also second on the uneven parallel bars (9.625).
Other top finishers Saturday included
Megan Hawkins placing second on the vault (9.575),
Olivia Opheim second on the balance beam (9.550) and
Jenna Danninger second on the floor exercise (9.450). Opheim was also third on the floor exercise (9.425) while
Jordyn Faust finished fourth (9.375).
On the balance beam,
Audrey Kaufman placed third (9.525) with
Alexis Sands sixth (9.375).
Emma Grant tied for sixth on the uneven parallel bars (9.300).
UWL returns to action Friday, March 12 at Winona State University (Minn.) at 5 p.m.
