Box Score La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's basketball team improved to 5-1 overall and 5-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) with a 92-75 home victory over UW-Stout Friday night in Mitchell Hall. The Blue Devils drop to 1-5 overall and 1-5 in the WIAC.
UWL scored the first four points of the game Friday before UW-Stout scored the next five for a 5-4 lead. The Blue Devils took their final lead of the game at 15-14 with 13:41 remaining in the first half on a Lovell Williams' three-pointer.
Ethan Anderson hit a pair of three-point field goals for UWL to give the Eagles a 20-15 advantage. After UW-Stout cut the lead to 23-22, UWL scored the next nine points for a 32-22 lead with 6:48 left in the first half. Anderson had six points in the run and
Henry Noone connected on a three-point basket.
Marcus Hill cut the lead to 32-26 with 5:48 left for UW-Stout, but the Blue Devils would get no closer the rest of the game. UWL finished the half on a 17-4 run to lead 49-30. Anderson had 18 points in the first half while Noone totaled 15 as he went five-of-eight from three-point range.
Henry Noone finished with a career-high 17 points.
UW-Stout could get no closer than 14 points in the second half.
UWL shot 43.2% from the field, including 34.3% (11-of-32) from three-point range, and 89.5% (17-of-19) at the free throw line. Anderson and Noone each set career-highs in scoring on Friday as Anderson totaled 31 points and Noone finished with 17 off the bench. Anderson finished 10-of-20 from the field, including three-of-nine from three-point range, and eight-of-nine at the line while adding seven rebounds. Noone went six-of-12 from the field, including five-of-11 from three-point range.
Anderson's 31 points for UWL are the most since Skylar Cameron totaled 31 against Carthage College (Wis.) on November 22, 2014.
Wyatt Cook finished with 16 points for the Eagles with a team-high eight rebounds. Cook added three assists and two steals.
Sean Suchomel finished with five points, six rebounds and game-high seven assists.
UWL had a season-high 21 assists (32 field goals).
UW-Stout shot 49.0% from the field, including 39.1% (nine-of-23) from three-point range, and 75.0% (18-of-24) at the line. Armani Tinsley led the Blue Devils with 16 points and four assists while Williams finished with 14 points, five rebounds and two blocks off the bench.
UWL returns to action Wednesday, February 24 hosting UW-Platteville at 7 p.m.
