La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team, receiving votes on this week's United Soccer Coaches Top-25 Poll, improved to 12-2-2 overall and 5-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) with a 2-0 win over UW-Platteville Wednesday night at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. The Pioneers drop to 8-4-3 overall and 0-4-1 in the conference.
UWL is now 10-1-1 in its last 12 games as the Eagles recorded their sixth shutout of the season.
Ellie Behnke's second goal of the season at 21:35 gave UWL a 1-0 lead with assists from
Ellie Arndt and
Sophie Amundson. Â The Eagles maintained their 1-0 lead at halftime, outshooting the Pioneers, 19-1. UWL finished the first half with eight corner kicks.Â

The Eagles made it 2-0 at 71:44 with
Natalie Schisel scoring her fifth goal of the season.
Ainsley Allan recorded the assist.Â
UWL finished with 26 shots in the game, including 10 on goal.
Alexis McMahon had a match-high five shots with three on goal. Behnke and
Rachael Janes each finished with four shots, including one on goal.
Jenna Nichols had three shots. Twelve different players recorded a shot.Â
UW-Platteville was held to four shots with three on goal. Lauren Lodico, Lydia Smith and Lilly Rausch each had a shot on goal.
Quinn Shannon earned the shutout win in goal for UWL, finishing with three saves. The Eagles also had one team save. Emma Ball recorded eight saves for UW-Platteville.Â
UWL finished with 10 corner kicks to UW-Platteville's two.
UWL returns to action Saturday, October 23 at UW-Oshkosh at 7 p.m.
