Box Score Oshkosh, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team, receiving votes on this week's United Soccer Coaches Top-25 Poll, fell 2-1 at UW-Oshkosh Saturday night at J.J. Keller Field in a match-up of the top-teams in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). The Eagles drop to 12-3-2 overall and 5-1 in the WIAC while the Titans improve to 13-2-1 overall and 6-0 in the conference.
Wth the win, UW-Oshkosh secures at least a share of the WIAC's regular-season title.
The game was tied, 0-0, at halftime after UWL finished with five shots in the first 45:00 with two on goal. UW-Oshkosh totaled four shots in the first half, including one on goal. Each team had one corner kick.
Quinn Shannon finished with two saves.
UW-Oshkosh took a 1-0 lead at 63:18 on a goal from Mackenzie Bennett with an assist from Rylie Kaufmann. The Titans made it 2-0 at 68:07 on Kaufmann's goal off a Alayna Clark assist.
UWL cut the lead to 2-1 at 76:54 on
Ellie Arndt's goal assisted from
Sophie Amundson. The Eagles had two shots on goal in the final :11.
The Eagles had 19 shots overall, including nine on goal.
Rachael Janes finished with five shots and
Alexis McMahon four. Janes, McMahon and Arndt each had two shots on goal.
The Titans totaled nine shots with four on goal. Mallory Knight had a pair of shots on goal.
UWL had five corner kicks while UW-Oshkosh had two.
Quinn Shannon recorded two saves for UWL while Erin Toomey finished with eight for UW-Oshkosh.
UWL returns to action Tuesday, October 26 at the University of Dubuque (Iowa) at 7 p.m.
