UWL Remains Undefeated in WIAC Play with Win at UW-Stout

Menomonie, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team, receiving votes on this week's United Soccer Coaches Top-25 Poll, improved to 11-2-2 overall and 4-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) with a 3-1 victory at UW-Stout Saturday afternoon at Nelson Field. The Blue Devils drop to 9-6-1 overall and 1-3 in the conference. 

The Eagles are now 9-1-1 in their last 11 games. UWL is 4-0 in the WIAC for the third time in the last four seasons. 

UWL took a 1-0 lead at 26:34 on Ainsley Allan's unassisted goal.  UW-Stout tied the contest at 1-1 with Lauren Chuckel scoring at 41:48 with an assist from Lizzie Leitzen. The Eagles quickly responded as Sophie Amundson scored at 41:54 with Alexis McMahon recording the assist.  It was Amundson's seventh goal of the season.Action Shot

UWL led, 2-1, at halftime. The Eagles out shot the Blue Devils, 16-1 in the first 45:00. 

Allan gave UWL a 3-1 lead at 60:32 with her second goal of the game and eighth of the season as the Eagles took a two-goal lead. 

UWL finished with 13 shots in the second half, totaling 29 for the game. The Eagles had nine shots on goal with Amundson finishing with three (four total shots). Allan finished with a game-high five shots with two on goal. Rachael Janes also had four shots in the game. Eleven different players recorded a shot. 

UW-Stout was held to three shots in the game, two coming in the second half. UWL recorded all 11 corner kicks in the game.

Quinn Shannon earned the win in goal for UWL. Haley Vokaty took the loss for UW-Stout, finishing with six saves. 

UWL returns to action Wednesday, October 20 hosting UW-Platteville at 6 p.m.
