Key Largo, Fla. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's and men's swimming & diving team competed at the Orange Bowl Swim Classic Friday at the Jacobs Aquatic Center.
The Eagles' men's squad placed first out of three teams with 269.0 team points while the women's squad was fourth out of five teams with 16.0 points.
On the men's side, UWL swept both relays.
Hans Hover,
Marley Kaiser,
Jack Rohlinger and
Nicholas Litterer won the 200 medley relay (1:46.91) while Hover, Litterer, Kaiser and Rohlinger also took the 200 freestyle relay (1:37.96).
UWL had seven individual wins on Friday, including a pair from Hover who captured the 50 (25.79) and 100 (58.04) butterfly. Kaiser captured the 50 breaststroke (29.85) while Litterer won the 100 freestyle (54.23).
Andrew Groth won the 400 freestyle (4:35.66),
Adam Baryenbruch the 100 breaststroke (1:08.51) and
Colin Brady the 200 I.M. (2:28.61).

For the women, UWL was sixth in the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.

Ellie Szczupakiewicz and
Emily Boettger were sixth (2:06.73) in the 200 medley relay while
Jaime Kloehn,
Victoria Campbell,
Molly Banks and Boettger were sixth (1:55.98) in the 200 freestyle relay.
Individually, Wciorka was ninth (32.82) in the 50 backstroke while Campbell finished 10th (1:03.58) in the 100 freestyle.
Kaylie Svacina was 11th (37.20) in the 50 breaststroke and 12th (1:21.46) in the 100 breaststroke.
Other 12th-place finishes included Boettger in the 50 freestyle (28.62) and
Madalyn Peterson in the 100 backstroke (1:15.96).
Kathleen Casella was 13th in the 400 freestyle (5:01.86) with
Samantha Smejkal 13th in the 100 butterfly (1:14.88) and
Samantha Rod 13th in the 200 I.M. (2:43.36). Szczupakiewicz finished 14th (31.34) in the 50 butterfly.
UWL returns to action Thursday, January 16 with a dual at NCAA Division II St. Cloud State University (Minn.) at 4 p.m.
