Dubuque, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball split a pair of matches Saturday at Loras College (Iowa). The Eagles fell 3-1 (26-24, 18-25, 25-16, 26-24) to 17th-ranked Augsburg University (Minn.) before coming back to earn a 3-1 (25-15, 21-25, 34-32, 25-20) win over host Loras (Iowa). UWL is now 4-5 on the season.
In the loss against Augsburg (Minn.), Emma Lawerence led UWL with 20 kills and 11 digs. She hit .241 (20-7-54). Liz Lansink finished with eight kills and Laine Hoeffel seven as Abbey Fox recorded 46 assists. The Eagles hit .136 (53-30-196).
Courtney Conway led the Eagles with 15 digs while Fox finished with 12. Anna Rossner had four blocks.
Augsburg's (Minn.) Megan Quam had 10 kills and Jade Boysen and Lexie Lang each had nine. Izzy Barr totaled 16 assists and Lang 13 as Augsburg (Minn.) hit .219 (51-18-151).
Jaelin Rios led the team with 18 digs while Lang finished with 17.
In the win against Loras (Iowa), Lawrence had a match-high 21 kills with Lansink finishing with 11 and Hoeffel 10. Fox recorded 50 assists. The Eagles hit .188 (60-30-160).
Conway had 18 digs while Summer Schwenn finished with 11. Rossner had a team-high seven blocks.
The Duhawks' Kayla Kinney finished with 17 kills while Jessalyn Rolling had 40 assists. Loras (Iowa) hit .100 (49-34-150). Krystal Tranel finished with 16 digs and Jackie Alberto three blocks.
UWL returns to action Wednesday, September 18 opening Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play at UW-Oshkosh at 7 p.m.
