Wheaton, Ill. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team fell 1-0 at sixth-ranked Wheaton College (Ill.) Saturday night at Joe Bean Stadium. The Eagles drop to 4-3 on the season while the Thunder improve to 6-0. Wheaton (Ill.) is ranked sixth in this week's United Soccer Coaches Top-25 Poll.
The only goal of the game came early as Sophia Lindquist notched her first goal of the season :55 into the game. The goal was assisted by Sara Bakke, her second of the season.
The teams combined for 19 shots in the first half with Wheaton (Ill.) leading, 17-2.
Wheaton (Ill.) outshot UWL, 11-3, in the second half. The Thunder totaled 28 shots overall with 13 on goal. Aeva Graber recorded nine shots (three on goal). Nine different players had a shot.
UWL finished with five shots, including four on goal. Julia Smith had two shots in the game both coming on goal. Ainsley Allan and Camryn Hart each had one shot on goal.
The Eagles' Quinn Shannon recorded a career-high 12 saves. The Thunder's Lauren Ketchum finished with four saves.
UWL returns to action Wednesday, September 18 hosting Wartburg College (Iowa) at 7 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.
