La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse baseball team earned a doubleheader sweep of UW-Oshkosh Sunday afternoon at Copeland Park. The Eagles won the opener, 5-1, and the nightcap, 12-6, to improve to 12-8 overall and 8-2 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). UW-Oshkosh drops to 13-12 overall and 6-6 in the conference.
UWL extended its winning streak to five with Sunday's sweep and have won 10 of its last 12 games overall. Â
Shane Coker had the game-winning hits in both games Sunday afternoon.
Mason McMahon and
Bryce Wesling combined on limiting UW-Oshkosh to three hits in the opener. McMahon (3-1) earned the win, going 7.0 innings, allowing two hits, one run and six walks while striking out nine. Wesling went 2.0 innings, allowing one hit with three strikeouts.Â
Mason did not allow a hit through 5.2 innings on Sunday as he recorded his 200th career strikeout in the top of the seventh inning. He now has 201 career strikeouts, ranking second in school history.
Caleb Boushley (2015-17) holds the school record with 227. Â
UWL took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first in Sunday's opener, scoring all three runs with two outs.

Brennan Schmitt's single.
Carson Youngquist walked to load the bases and
Shane Coker followed with a two-run single for the first scoring of the game.
Jake McClellan's RBI single made it 3-0.Â
The game remained 3-0 until the top of the sixth when UW-Oshkosh Alex Koch singled and stole second with two outs. It was the Titans' first hit of the game. He then scored on Hunter Staniske double to cut the lead to 3-1. UWL came right back in the bottom of the sixth as

UWL totaled nine hits with Sutton and McClellan each going 2-for-4. Seven starters had a hit for the Eagles with five different players scoring a run.Â
Koch had two of UW-Oshkosh's three hits, finishing 2-for-4 with a run. Ryan Wilkening (3-3) took the loss for the Titans, going 8.0 innings, allowing nine hits, five runs (four earned) and one walk while striking out five.Â
UW-Oshkosh took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on three hits in the nightcap as Koch hit an RBI double and ??? Hinton a sacrifice fly. UWL responded in the bottom of the first as 10 batters went to the plate, scoring five runs on five hits to take a 5-2 lead. Sutton, Youngquist, Coker and Robson each had RBI singles while McClellan had an RBI groundout. The Eagles added to their lead with three runs in the bottom of the second with nine hitters coming to the plate. Youngquist and Coker each had run-scoring singles while McClellan had a fielder's choice to knock in a run.Â

Staniske's RBI groundout in the top of the fifth cut the lead to 8-3, but
Nate Heili's single scored Robson to give UWL a 9-3 advantage. UW-Oshkosh got a pair of unearned runs in the eighth to cut its deficit to 9-5 before UWL scored three times on four hits in the bottom of the inning. McClellan had an RBI single, Carney an RBI double and Heili a sacrifice fly.  Staniske's sacrifice fly for UW-Oshkosh in the ninth finished the scoring.
Connor Cook (3-1) picked up the win for UWL, pitching 7.0 innings, allowing nine hits and three runs while striking out nine.
James Witt went 2.0 innings, allowing three hits, three runs (one earned) and two walks with two strikeouts.Â
UWL finished with 15 hits as Youngquist and Coker each went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Heili and Sutton each had two hits while Tully, Sutton and Schmitt scored twice. McClellan had a game-high three RBI with Heili, Youngquist and Coker each having two.Â
With his two hits, Heili now has 200 in his career. He is the sixth player in school history to record 200 hits.
Taylor Kohlwey (2013-16) is the all-time leader with 277.Â
Will Michalski (1-1) suffered the loss for UW-Oshkosh, pitching 1.0 inning, allowing seven hits, eight runs (five earned) and two walks with two strikeouts. The Titans totaled 12 hits with Zach Radde going 4-for-5 with three runs. Matt McNabb went 3-for-4.
UWL and UW-Oshkosh will play another doubleheader on Monday, April 15 starting at noon.
