Stevens Point, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse football team ended its regular-season with a 34-17 victory at UW-Stevens Point Saturday afternoon at Community Stadium at Goerke Park. The Eagles improve to 7-3 on the season while the Pointers drop to 3-7.

The Eagles took a 7-0 lead on the first possession of the game on Saturday, going 75 yards in eight plays and 3:19.
Joey Stutzman scored on a nine-yard run with 11:41 remaining in the opening quarter.

UW-Stevens Point responded on its first drive to tie the game, 7-7. The Pointers went 77 yards in 10 plays and 4:47 with Matt Urmanski throwing a 15-yard touchdowns pass to James Thompson with 6:58 left.
UWL fumbled on the next drive with UW-Stevens Point taking over at the Eagles' 22-yard line. The Pointers turned the ball over on downs after an incompletion on fourth-and-six at the Eagles' 18-yard line.
The game was tied, 7-7, after the first quarter.

After UWL turned the ball over on downs at UW-Stevens Point's four-yard line, Urmanski was intercepted by
Noah Schober who returned it 27-yards for a touchdown with to give the Eagles a 14-7 lead with 14:46 left in the first half. UWL took a 17-7 lead into halftime as
Ryan Beirne connected on a 26-yard field goal with 2:12 remaining. The Eagles went 61 yards in 12 plays and 5:27.
UW-Stevens Point missed a 47-yard field goal on the final play of the first half.
The Pointers cut the lead to 17-10 with 12:23 left in the third quarter as Victor Ponterio hit a 39-yard field goal. The Eagles responded on their first drive of the second half with Lewandowski throwing a five-yard touchdown pass to
Jake Simuncak to make it 24-10 with 9:50 remaining. UWL used six plays to go 80 yards in 2:30.
Each team turned the ball over on fumbles on the next two possessions of the game. Urmanski hit Jonte Webb with a 25-yard touchdown pass with 2:57 left in the third quarter to cut UWL's lead to 24-17. The Pointers went 25 yards in five plays and 1:41.
Josh Dorschner had a sack, fumble recovery and interception.
Josh Dorschner intercepted Urmanski with 10:01 left in the fourth quarter and resulted in Beirne hitting a 19-yard field goal with 9:04 remaining to make it 27-17. Dorschner forced and recovered a fumble on a quarterback sack with 5:52 remaining and Stutzman scored on a five-yard run with 5:09 left to give UWL a 34-17 advantage.
UWL finished with 372 yards of offense, including 212 rushing and 160 passing. The Eagles had 19 first downs in the game while going three-of-10 on third-down. UWL was five-of-six in the red-zone.
Lewandowski went 17-of-32 for 160 yards with one touchdown. He finishes the regular season with a school record 28 passing touchdowns and 2,804 yards. Lewandowski breaks

Tarek Yaeggi's school record of 2,724 passing yards in 2016. Lewandowski also has 2,857 total yards of offense this year, second in single-season UWL history. Yaeggi had 2,896 yards in 2016.
Jake Simuncak had 100 yards in kickoff returns.
Spieker caught 11 passes for 86 yards on Saturday while
Cameron Sorenson had three catches for 34 yards. Spieker ends the regular-season with a school record 83 catches, breaking
Nick Holcomb's record of 80 set in 2017. His 1,216 receiving yards this year ranks second in school history. Holcomb finished with 1,401 yards in 2017.
Stutzman had 22 carries for a career-high 165 yards rushing and two touchdowns Saturday.
Simuncak had four kickoff returns for 100 yards, giving him a school record 1,492 in his career. He breaks the record of 1,441 yards set by
John Barrett (1994-97).
UW-Stevens Point totaled 429 yards with 99 rushing and 330 passing. The Pointers finished with 22 first downs and won the time of possession, 32:39 to 27:21. UW-Stevens Point went six-of-19 on third-down and three-of-six on fourth-down while going three-of-six in the red-zone.
Urmanski went 26-of-54 for 330 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions. Webb caught nine passes for 129 yards and one touchdown. ShamaJ Williams had 77 yards rushing on 12 attempts.
Rusty Murphy led UWL with nine tackles while
Joey Roth and
Peter Kissling each had eight. Nevada Laabs led UW-Stevens Point with 14 tackles.
