Tucson, Ariz. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse softball team dropped a pair of games Tuesday afternoon at the Tucson Invitational Games. The Eagles fell 4-1 to Dickinson College (Pa.) and 8-2 to Cornell College (Iowa). UWL is now 1-7 on the season. 

Versus Dickinson (Pa.), the game was scoreless until the top of the fifth when the Red Devils scored four runs with two outs. Kat Parise had an RBI single to knock in the first run of the game. Magge McConney followed with a two-out single to make it 3-0 with Parise scoring on the play after a UWL error. 

The Eagles got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth. Haley Radewan walked to start the inning and moved to second on Brittany Baldwin's one-out single. Sydney Murphy followed with a single to load the bases. Grace Mindrup's sacrifice fly scored Radewan to cut the lead to 4-1. 

UWL finished with five hits as Baldwin went 2-for-4. Caitlyn Hughes (0-4) took the loss for the Eagles, pitching 4.2 innings, allowing five hits, three runs and two walks with seven strikeouts.

Dickinson (Pa.) had eight hits in the game with Parise and McConney each finishing with two. Madison Milaszewski (2-0) earned the win for the Red Devils, pitching 7.0 innings while allowing five hits, one run and one walk while striking out 11.

Against Cornell (Iowa), the Rams took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first with Stephanie Xavier scoring an unearned run after an Eagles' error and Melissa Orton coming in on Jana Froehle's double. Cornell (Iowa) took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second on Froehle's RBI single. Sabrina Calabrese's solo home run in the top of the third made it 4-0.

UWL cut the lead to 4-2 in the bottom of the third on back-to-back run-scoring doubles from Mia Schmidtke and Mindrup. Cornell (Iowa) responded in the top of the fourth with Calabrese hitting a two-out grand slam to make it 8-2.

UWL totaled with six hits in the game. Sydne Shattuck (0-2) suffered the loss, going 3.0 innings, allowing six hits, four runs (three earned) and three walks while striking out six.

Cornell (Iowa) totaled nine hits as Froehle and Calabrese each finished with two. Calabrese finished with five RBI. Haley Harmon (4-1) earned the victory, going 7.0 innings, allowing six hits and two unearned runs while striking out seven.

UWL returns to action Wednesday, March 14 facing RIT (N.Y.) at 11 a.m. (Central) and Stevens Institute of Technology (N.J.) at 1 p.m. (Central).
